Trauma-Informed Training: Trauma has been the foundation for disproportionately poor outcomes in health, education, recovery, criminal justice, and low quality of life for generations in BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities. Unfortunately, trauma has remained overlooked and unaddressed as a culprit to many of these issues even at systemic levels. Empowering BIPOC communities with education and support regarding trauma and its impact is especially important because of the historically racialized criminalization of BIPOC communities and trauma’s link to social adversity. Understanding trauma helps promote early identification to enhance prevention and intervention practices for healthy social outcomes.
